Alliance Française de Kandy had the honor of hosting a creative and engaging Flipbook Animation Workshop, led by esteemed animators Mr. Disharath Senevirathna, Ms. Mahesha Kariyapperuma, and Mr. Pulasthi Handunge.
Participants learned the fundamentals of frame-by-frame animation, creating each drawing carefully so that, when viewed in sequence, the images moved smoothly. They explored how to design characters, show motion, and tell short stories using only paper, pencils, and their imagination — experiencing firsthand how simple sketches can come to life as animated sequences.
In the afternoon, the workshop was followed by a screening of Sri Lankan animated short films at 3 p.m., celebrating the artistry, creativity, and storytelling of local animators.
