On July 27th, adult participants engaged in a creative writing workshop at the Alliance Française de Kandy, centered around the chapter “Firecrackers” from Lady Driver by Jayawati Shrivastava. The story explores themes of identity, freedom, and self-discovery.
Following a thoughtful reading and discussion, participants worked in small groups to imagine and write their own alternative endings. Each version reflected unique emotions, perspectives, and possibilities. The session concluded with a powerful group reading, fostering reflection and shared storytelling.
This project is generously funded by the Franco-German Cultural Fund, established in 2003 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Élysée Treaty of friendship between France and West Germany. The fund promotes Franco-German cooperation by supporting cultural and artistic initiatives.
