Event Date: 29th November 2023
Time: 3:00pm to 5:00pm
Le Jour des profs de Français is to promote the profession of French teacher through activities and events that will create connections and solidarity. It is a day when teachers will exchange ideas, come together for friendly moments, share their experiences and practices. In each country, a national organizing committee will bring together institutions and people involved in the teaching of and in French. Every day, in the four corners of the planet, practicing a profession that they have often chosen out of a passion for teaching and a love of the beautiful language, teachers introduce their learners to the richness of French. They can be proud of it! Proud to be linguistic and cultural mediators who open to their students the doors of exchange and dialogue with more than 320 million people in the world, and beyond with all French-speaking and Francophile peoples, both diverse and bound by the spirit of democracy. Proud to introduce new intellectual horizons to their students, to help them equip themselves with the tools to understand a complex world in which multilingualism is an essential asset.
Proud, finally, to take on the countless challenges of a profession that is sometimes difficult, but always fascinating and profoundly useful, every day. For all these reasons and many others, the millions of teachers “of” and “in” French can be proud to teach French!
This year, on November 29th, the French teachers from Alliance Française de Kandy visited Alliance Française de Kotte (Colombo) for a day of training, as well as to connect and exchange ideas with their colleagues from across the country. This wonderful day concluded with a reception at the residence of the French Ambassador, Mr. Jean-François Pactet.
