Opening of the Travelling Feminist Library at Alliance Française de Kandy
The Travelling Feminist Library officially opened its doors at the Alliance Française de Kandy on 28 June! Following a vibrant first stop in Colombo, this evolving art project continues its journey, celebrating women’s creativity in literature and art.
A special highlight of the launch was the reading of selected extracts from the Sister Library collection by members of the Faculty of English at the University of Peradeniya—an evocative and inspiring tribute to the voices represented in the library.
Founded by Indigenous artist @dallaekhorsani, Sister Library is more than just a collection of books—it is a space of resistance, reflection, and celebration. Curated with works by women writers, zine-makers, and artists, it invites readers to engage deeply with feminist literature and visual culture.
This project is presented in collaboration with Everystory Sri Lanka, with contributions from the Goethe-Institut and Alliance Française, and is generously funded by the Franco-German Cultural Fund.
